Particle Pandemonium is a short game I worked on for a few months in early 2022. I was pretty busy, so development was sparse, but it was a fun project to work on over the weekends!

The game is themed around the periodic table, and is a quasi-educational experience with little blurbs about each element (really, though, the gameplay has nothing to do with education lol)

I was inspired to make a short, simple platforming game after playing, of all things, a mobile game. It’s called Jump Jerboa, and I had so much fun playing it that I thought I’d work on a similar micro-platformer of my own. The elemental theme created a fun challenge of figuring out how to design new game mechanics based upon the properties of different elements.

The final game left a lot of room for potential improvement, with some repetitive levels and easy skips. I got really burnt out by the end and sorta just released the levels I’d already made without creating a plot, boss battles, or proper ending. It was a great learning experience, especially on the topic of burnout and project motivation, so I don’t regret making it!
